JOSÉ FERREIRA
PRESENTS HIS MORPHOCOPIES©.
• José Ferreira's Morphocopies© are works on paper created exclusively on a color photocopier without any photographic or digital intervention. This new technology artistic field is known as Copy-Art or, in
English-speaking world, Xerography.
• José Ferreira focuses his investigations in Copy-Art on capturing and representing movement. He is principally interested in body movements, gestures, and facial expressions. This dynamic approach makes
him the direct heir of Italian Futurist photographer Anton-Giulio Bragaglia.
• Morphocopies© are printed either as unique pieces or as limited editions in which each piece is different from the others, a "customization" option engendered by the photocopier's graphic possibilities. Thus,
within the same series, every piece remains a genuine & unique original (similar to Vasarely's "multiples").
• José Ferreira's Copy-Art work includes an important series entitled "the musicians' suite". These works don't show the instruments, only the musicians' hands in motion, this being the only clue for the observer
to identify the related instruments.
• José Ferreira's works are presented in several private collections in France, England, Venezuela and United States (New-York and the Museum of Art of Fort Lauderdale, Florida).
• José Ferreira also pursues a career as a writer , a caricaturist, a painter and a designer and is currently preparing a doctor's degree in Arts at Paris's Sorbonne University on the topic of perception &
representation of movement in the still image.
• José Ferreira was born in 1964 in Paris where he lives and works.
